Victor over Fairport, Brighton over Schroeder
Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Senior faceoff specialist Logan Callahan gave Victor a big advantage in ball time as he won 14/18 draws to help the Blue Devils beat Fairport 10-6 this afternoon. Callahan, who in three games this season has won 58/66 (88%) faceoffs also scored 2g-1a. The game started even, with three ties before Victor took a lead at 4-3 and did not let go. Senior M/A Cal Lambert led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 3g-2a. Senior midfielder Alex Seiler added 2g-1 and five other players scored one goal. Fairport sophomore A/M Jackson Monte led in scoring for the Red Raiders with 2g-1a. Fairport (2-2) will play Penfield on Friday while Victor (3-0) is playing Irondequoit. Rush-Henrietta took an early lead over visiting Pittsford, but in the second quarter the Panthers scored four in a row and at 6-4 continued to lead all the way to their 14-9 victory. Junior attackman James Cook scored 5g-1a and senior attackman Harrison Cross added 4g for the Panthers. Rush-Henrietta junior midfielder Killian Ceci scored 3g and his classmate Chase Petschke scored 1g-2a for the Royal Comets (2-3) who will play Churchville-Chili on Friday. In a very close game that had seven lead changes, Brighton, with a goal by Olin Stanat won their game against visiting Schroeder 12-11. The Bruins outscored the Warriors 5-4 in the first quarter and after that the teams matched goals. Senior attackman Olin Stanat scored 3g-3a and senor midfielder Sam Tourangeau scored 4g for Brighton who saw lots of ball time as Tourangeau won 23/26 (88%) of his draws. For Schroeder, junior midfielder Nick Hauman scored 5g-2a including four in a row to take a 9-8 advantage in the third quarter. [BOX SCORE]
Fifteen different players scored points for Webster Thomas as they shutout Gates Chili this afternoon. Leading the Titans in scoring were senior attackman Joe Russo with 4g-1a and junior attackman David Petz with 2g-3a. Thomas (5-0) will host Pittsford on Friday. Gates will play Brockport on Saturday. Spencerport won their game with Brockport 21-4 tonight at Brockport. Senior attackman Tyler Gostling racked up 8g and freshman attackman Anthony Rodriguez had 4g-3a for the Rangers (6-0) who will play Aquinas on Monday. Brockport will play Gates Chili on Saturday, [BOX SCORE]
In another good game tonight, Hilton won against Greece Storm 9-7 at home. The Storm took the first quarter 3-2, but the Cadets came back in the second with 5-1 giving Hilton a 7-4 lead at the half. The Storm outscored Hilton 2-1 in the third and they traded goals in the last quarter. Junior attackman Cole Loewke scored 3g-1a and senior midfielder Matthew Mojsej had 4g for Hilton. Senior goalie Clayton Duford made 8s/9ga (53%) for the Cadets. For the Storm, senior attackman Brandon Pignato scored 2g-1a and five others scored one goal each. Senior goalie Owen Infantino recorded 18s/9ga (67%) for Greece (3-2) who will play East United-Eastridge next. Hilton (303) will play Schroeder on Friday. [BOX SCORE]
Honeoye Falls-Lima (5-2) improved their winning streak to five with their 10-5 victory over Irondequoit. It was only the second time the Cougars have defeated the Eagles. Senior attackman Matt Blythe scored 3g-1a and his classmate midfielder Colt Green had 1g-3a for HF-L. Sophomore goalie Trevor Reese made 8s/5ga (62%) for the Cougars. Noah Gibson scored 2g-1a and Eli Velepec had 1g-1a for Irondequoit. [BOX SCORE]
Churchville-Chili bumped their record to 2-2 with a 15-0 win over East United-Eastridge today. Sophomore goalie Bradley Shaw made 3s/0ga in his first stint in the varsity cage. On the offensive side of the field, ten players made the offensive book. Freshmen attackman Colin Duncan and Dominic Hoch each scored 4g-1a. [BOX SCORE]
Although the first half was close with Canandaigua up 4-3, the Braves scored five unanswered in the second half to beat Penfield 9-3 tonight. Senior attackman Sam Bennett led the Braves with 4g-1a and in the cage, sophomore goalie Jack Faiola made 7s/4ga (70%). Three different players scored for the Patriots who drop out of the undefeated list (4-1) while Canandaigua continues on the list with a 5-0 record. [BOX SCORE]
