Monday: East Rochester over Newark

There was a single game played in the Section under sunny but cold weather. In a game that was close throughout, East Rochester defeated Newark 7-5.

  --  In the second day of games, East Rochester defeated Newark 7-5 with a run of five unanswered goals spanning parts of the third and fourth quarters. The game was back and forth for its entirety and a relatively close contest.

The scoring began with Raymond Shalvoy scoring unassisted with 6:20 remaining in the opening quarter. Shalvoy finished with three goals for the Bombers. Five minutes later, Newark scored their first goal when Anthony Manthorne fed the ball to Bill Cody. Newark had diverse scoring with each of ER vs Newarktheir five goals coming from a different player. The first quarter ended with the score 1-1.

In the second quarter, ER scored the first goal with Jake Altman scoring off an assist from Clayton Vaughn. Vaughn was the leading scoring for the Bombers with 2g-2a. Two minutes later and Newark tied the game once again. Manthorne scored a goal with an assist from Kyle Power. Manthorne and Power finished with 1g-1a each. The first half ended tied once again (2-2).

The second half had much more scoring then the first. Newark took their only lead of the game with an unassisted goal from Evan Vasquez with 11:02 in the third quarter. Seven seconds later the Bombers re-tied the game with a face-off fast-break from Shalvoy (assisted by Vaughn). ER kept the scoring up, adding two more goals before the end of the quarter to take the 5-3 lead going into the final quarter. Vaughn scored the first goal and Darnell Rhodes scored the second goal (both unassisted).

In the final quarter, ER extended their lead to four goals with another unassisted goal from Vaughn and Shalvoy's third goal. Shalvoy's goal was assisted by Altman. With 4:52 remaining in the game, the Bombers led 7-3. Newark scored the final two goals in an exciting come-back, but it was too big of a deficit to overcome. Power added his goal with 3:42 remaining and Omar Jaohar scored with 1:43 remaining. In the cage, Newark's goalie Dominic Camblin finished with four saves. East Rochester split goalies at the half. Senior Liridon Dervisholli played the first half and recorded three saves (two goals against) and senior Jonathan Caton played the second half with five recorded saves (three goals against).
