# 3526  2024 All-Section Five List Released

The Section V Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players.Victor The 2024 first team lists fifteen players and includes the six All-Americans previously announced. "The first six athletes on the first team are easy" said Section Five Assistant Coordinator, Paul Wilson. "after that, it becomes more difficult as we have so many excellent players."

To be nominated each player was required to be selected to their first team all-league team (except Independent teams). The lists were selected from a pool of ninety-seven players. The selections were reviewed by Chairmen of each of the two leagues, two at-large coaches the Lacrosse Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.

Although grade and league were not major factors in selection, the lists show the skills that are found throughout the section. Twelve Monroe County teams were represented on the lists, with the rest representing Finger Lakes (6), and Independents (3). Showing that the "Best of the Best" can come from any age group, there were 27 seniors, 10 juniors, and  4 sophomores listed. Distribution among the positions shows 12 midfielders, 11 attackmen, 10 defensemen, 2 FO specialists, 1 LSM, 1 A/M, and 4 goalies.

Penf vs McQuaidThe game started off with Penfield scoring back-to-back goals.  Schembri assisted the first goal with Christian Brown (1g-1a) scoring.  Three minutes later, he scored the goal with an outside shot that found the back of the net.  McQuaid Jesuit responded with two of their own to the tie the game at 2-2.  The first was scored by JP Gianforti and the second by Will DiMarco.  DiMarco scored his goal after scooping up the ball on the crease and finished into the back of the net.  The Patriots added one more goal before the end of the quarter.  Ethan Aust scored with a feed from Zach Shores.  The Patriots led 3-2 after twelve minutes.

Penf vs McQuaidIn the second quarter, Penfield scored the only goal.  Schembri scored with an assist from Brown; Brown fed the ball into a tight crease and Schembri was able to score with an underhand shot.  Penfield extended their lead to 4-2 going into halftime.
