The second Players of the Week awards are a three year Varsity players who have contributed to the early successes of their teams. Ben Smith-Wilcox is a junior attackman at Canandaigua Academy and Allen Thibodeau is a senior long stick middie at Fairport.

Offensive Player of the Week
Ben Smith-Wilcox

As a sophomore, Ben ended the season with thirty-six points, but this year he is already at thirty-four (in eight games). He had eleven points last week helping the Braves defeat both Irondequoit and Penn Yan.

Canandaigua Head Coach Ed Mulheron has plenty of good comments for his junior attackman. "Ben Smith-Wilcox is off to a fantastic start this spring. As an attackman he has the ability to score goals, but also has great vision which helps him identify an open teammate. He always puts the team first and is a great young man to coach."

Defensive Player of the Week
Allen Thibodeau

Allen Thibodeau is a four year starter for Fairport and a second year Varsity captain. He has one goal, two assists, forty-two ground balls and fourteen take aways so far this season. He will be attending RIT after his graduation this spring.

Fairport Head Coach Mike Torrelli gives his senior high marks. "Allen is our best player. As our defensive leader, he keeps us focused and on task. He is a leader on and off the field and leads by example.

Each week a small committee of SportsFive.NET staff members and some Section Five Lacrosse Committee members will create and review review nominations from coaches, players and fans and pick one offensive and one defensive player who have excelled in a game or games during the season.

The award winners will receive a commemorative shirt and will featured on the SportsFive.NET web site.
