Week In Review - Week 2

EDITOR'S NOTE: This weekly summary touches on some of the games played in the recent past and highlights some games of interest in the current week. For more in-depth coverage, click on the DAY OF THE WEEK for more coverage for that day, including box scores, articles, and galleries.

There twenty-eight games played last week. There are seventy-six out of section games scheduled and 5 have been played. Section V teams have won 4 and lost 1 (80%). There are many undefeated teams at this point.

Looking Back

On Tuesday Sophomore offensiveman Cooper Moore recorded 4g-2a, including the game winner in overtime as Irondequoit won their second game of the season against Hilton today. The other five games were mismatches.

On Wednesday there was just one game played. Canandaigua defeated Fairport by a score of 5-4. In a low-scoring tight contest that had three ties, the Gray Wolves (2-0) had three straight goals in the second and third quarters to come from behind and win with a goal by Braden Gioseffi on a pass from Drew Williamee. 

Wayne at HiltonOn Thursday there were six games played and most were mismatches. The winners were HFL, Marcus Whitman, Schroeder. Victor lost to Rye, Thomas lost to BVille and Penfield lost a close one to West Islip.

On Friday  There were two games played. Brighton lost in a close one to Horseheads as a slow first half left the Bruins down 4-1. The second half went the other way, but Brighton was one goal short. McQuaid beat visiting Loveland (OH).

On Saturday There were eight games played and two were really close ones. Section III teams CNS and Baldwinsville were one goal winners over Irondequoit and Schroeder.

Looking Ahead

Wayne at HiltonThe vacation continues on Monday, with everyone wanting to see the total eclipse. The week then will see forty-six games played from Tuesday to Saturday and there are a lot of good matchups.

There are nine games scheduled for Tuesday including Aquinas at Geneva, Spencerport at Canandaigua, Newark at Haverling and Hilton at HFL.

There are two games set for Wednesday. Pal-Mac is at Livonia-Avon and Haverling is at Aquinas

On Thursday there are fifteen scheduled games, and it will be hard to pick the games to see. Victor is at Canandaigua, Churchill-Chili is at Gates Chili, Fairport is at Irondequoit, HFL is at Penn Yan, Rush-Henrietta is at Schroeder, Bloomfield-Honeoye plays Marcus Whitman at FLCC, and Penfield is at Thomas.

On Friday, R-H is at Nichols (VI), McQuaid is also in Section VI, playing St Joseph`s and, in town is Midlakes-Red Jacket is at East United-Eastridge.

Saturday has seventeen games on deck, including Penfield at West Genesee, Niskayuna at Victor, Fairport at Orchard Park, Mynderse at Newark, B-H at Wayne, and Churchville-Chili at Brockport.
