Wayne Over Aquinas, Whitman Over Haverling

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: In what may be one of the best first halves of the day, Wayne defeated their hosts, Aquinas 10-7 after six lead changes. The two teams exchanged scoring throughout the first and second quarters and were 6-6 at the half. In the second half Andy Hamel scored three of four Wayne goals in a row and after Aquinas scored the final goal of the game, the Eagles won 10-7. Hamel finished with 5g, Bath at Marcus WhitmanNate Michel added 1g-4a and Jack Acker made 19s/7ga (73%) in the cage for Wayne. Junior midfielder Angelo Palumbo scored 3g-1a and won 15/19 faceoffs (79%) for Aquinas (3-3). Wayne (4-3) now leads the series 4-3 and the Eagles will play Pal-Mac on Saturday. A couple of goals in the second half gave Corning (Section IV) a 9-6 win over McQuaid Jesuit this afternoon. The teams were tied at the half, but the Knights were held to one goal in the last half, while the Hawks added four. Penn Yan scored ten goals in the first quarter on their way to a 19-0 win over visiting Midlakes-Red Jacket. Nine players scored for the Mustangs. Marcus Whitman outscored Bath 7-2 in the first half, and the Rams were unable to overcome the difference in the 10-7 win for the Wildcats. Junior attackman Jamie O`Neil led the scoring for Bath with 2g-4a. Ian DiDomineck added 3g for the Rams who will play Mynderse on Monday. Livonia-Avon improved their record to 5-3 with a 17-2 victory at Gananda tonight. The Lakers scored the first twelve goals. Jackson McEnerney, Roman Volpe and Derrick Wigley each scored six points. Matt Beachel had 2s/0ga in his 34 mins., Nic Teachout had 2s/1ga in his 9 mins and Aiden Brown had 0s/1ga in his 5 mins in the goal for the Lakers.
