Pittsford Falls to St. Joseph
After a close three quarter, St. Joseph’s Collegiate pulled away with eight unanswered goals spanning the third and fourth quarters to defeat Pittsford 12-7. The Marauders were led in scoring by Evan Mulderig with 5g-1a. He played a role in half of the St. Joseph goals. Pittsford was led in scoring by Ryan Dumont (2g-12a) and Sonny Imburgia (1g-2a).
St. Joseph set the pace of the game with the opening goal just less than 4 minutes into the contest. Kellen Pulera scored unassisted for the Marauders, Pittsford responded with Sammy Thomolaris scoring unassisted two minutes later. The Marauders then scored back to back goals to go up 3-1. Both goals were scored by Mulderig. The Panthers kept up with the game and scored two unanswered goals to finish out the first quarter. Ben DiGiovanni and Dumont each added one.
In the second quarter, the Marauders scored the only goal with Kellen Pulera scoring off a feed from Ryan McGorry. They held a 4-3 lead at the half. In the third quarter, Pittsford came out swinging and scored three more goals. Dumont scored the first and Harrison Cross scored the second and third. The Panthers scored five of the last six goals to move from behind down by two to up by two (6-4 with 7:10 remaining in the third quarter). However, the Panthers then went on a dry spell and didn’t score for the next 17 minutes. St. Joseph added two goals to end the third (and tie the game at 6-6). They then opened up the fourth quarter with six goals. The final goal of the game was an unassisted score by Imburgia with 1:48 left on the clock. As a team, St. Joseph did well at the face-off and finished 18/22.
