Saturday: CA, Pittsford and McQuaid Win

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Pittsford controlled most of the game, but a last quarter surge by CBA made an exciting finish. Canandaigua opened its 50th season with a win at Geneva and McQuaid won their game against Bellen Jesuit.

CA at GenevaBELLEN JESUIT-2 at MCQUAID JESUIT-9 - The Knights led 5-2 and then shutout Bellan Jesuit (FL) in the second half. Scoring for McQuaid Jesuit (2-0) were junior attackman Vincenzo Giangreco (4g), junior attackman John Harding (2g-1a), and senior midfielder Henry Coke (2a). Junior midfielder Justin Bunce scored his first Varsity goal for the Knights. Facing off was freshman Domenic Giangreco with 5+/2- = 71%, and sophomore JP Gianforti with 7+/1- = 88%. In the goal for McQuaid Jesuit was junior Will Gordon with 8s/2ga = 80% (44 mins). GENEVA-3 at CANANDAIGUA-15 - Canandaigua started the celebration of their 50th year with a big win at Geneva this morning. Nine different players scored goals for CanandaiguaCA at Geneva in this game including Sophomore midfielder Ryan Bremer, Sophomore attackman Mike Belles, and Junior defenseman Daniel Urlacher who each scored their first Varsity goal in this game. Senior face off midfielder Luke McCrobie reached his 300th faceoff wins with his 12 wins (307wins) today. Leading the scoring for Canandaigua (1-0) were sophomore attackman Drew Williamee (2g-4a), junior attackman Sean Olvany (5g-0a), and senior attackman Nate Sheridan (1g-3a). Facing off for Canandaigua was McCrobie with 12+/1- = 92%, and sophomore Mason DePew with 4+/3- = 57%. In the goal for Canandaigua was senior Jack Faiola with 6s/2ga = 75% (40 mins). Canandaigua is undefeated against Geneva (26-0) since April 12, 2003. The Braves are at Hilton on Tuesday.

Scoring for Geneva (0-1) were senior midfielder Daniel Wright (1g-1a), sophomore midfielder Austin Moore (1g), sophomore midfielder Dominick Vedora (1g), and freshman midfielder Cooper Trickler (1a). CA at GenevaPITTSFORD-9 at CBA-8 - Pittsford took an early lead scoring the only two goals in the first quarter and led at the half 7-4. After trading goals in the third, Christian Brothers Academy came back with three goals in the last quarter to get close, but not close enough. Leading the scoring for Pittsford (3-0) were senior attackman Rex Kesselring (3g), freshman midfielder Avery Valenti (2g), senior midfielder Ben Steingass (1g-1a), and senior midfielder Anthony DeMeo (1g). In the goal for Pittsford was senior Nolan Deehan with 11s/8ga = 58% (48 mins). Pittsford will host Fayetteville-Manlius on Thursday.
