# 2956 Victor and SWR Win Fourth Titles Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Both Victor and Shoreham-Wading River won their fourth NYS Championships today at St. John Fisher College. SWR defeated Jamesville-DeWitt 12-7 and Victor beat John Jay 9-7. Fairport played a good game against Massapequa, but lost 10-6 and LaFayette/Onondaga won their title in an Overtime match with Briarcliff. |
# 2953 Haller Leads Victor to Fourth State Title Victor won their fourth NYS Finals in five years today with a 9-7 win over John Jay. Blue Devil’s senior goalie Liam Haller was the pillar that lifted them to their Title. He finished with 21 saves (75%) and played one of the best games of his career in today’s matchup. The Indians recorded 39 shots with 28 on cage (72% on cage). Haller often faced not only the primary shot, but secondary shots from the doorstep; he was repeatedly on point and came up with multiple saves that were stellar. Offensively, Jack LaRue (4g) and Camden Hay (3g-1a) led in scoring. For John Jay, Jack Browne played the entire game between the pipes and recorded 2 saves. Offensively, Dean Ford finished with 3g-1a. |
# 2948 Victor Heads to the Finals for the Fifth Year Victor heads to the State Finals for the fifth consecutive season after their 12-6 win over the Section IV Champion, Vestal. The Golden Bears scored the last two goals to catchup in the final four minutes. The Blue Devils led by eight halfway through the fourth quarter. Leading in scoring for Victor were Camden Hay (3g-4a) and Joey Pezzimenti (2g-3a). For Vestal, senior Matt Thrasher finished with 4g to lead his team. |

# 2940 Victor Advances to Semi-Finals Victor came to live in the fourth quarter and scored five unanswered to defeat Hamburg 8-4. The Bulldogs played a tight three quarters before the Blue Devils became too much for them in the final 12 minutes. Hamburg played a strong 36 minutes and forced Victor to deal with them on the offensive and defensive side of the field. They led until Victor’s second goal of the fourth (9:34 remaining). The Blue Devil offense had problems getting going. They led in shots 27-19 on the game, but had trouble putting their early shots on the cage. Scoring was mostly spread out with junior attackman Joey Pezzimenti leading for Victor with 3g-1a. Goalie Liam Haller recorded 10 saves (71%). |

The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments. |
# 2928 Penn Yan Wins 24th - Victor Wins 6th Wednesday: DAY IN REVIEW: All four Champions have been crowned and are ready to advance to the NYS Regionals (quarter finals) which will be held at St. John Fisher College on Saturday. The Class A game will see Fairport vs Orchard Park at 10:00 AM, The Class B Game will feature Victor vs Hamburg at 12:30, The Class C game with Geneva vs East Aurora will start at 3:00 PM and the Class D game will see Penn Yan vs Edan at 5:30PM. Tickets will be $6.00 as set by NYS. |
# 2927 Victor Wins their Sixth Straight Championship Victor secured their sixth straight Section Five Title with two goals in the final sixty seconds. The Braves had taken a two goals lead with less than six minutes remaining and held on to a one goal lead with 1:00 left on the clock. The Blue Devils never gave up and defeated Canandaigua 7-6 in regulation. The game was a defensive battle with both goalies coming up strong. Canandaigua’s Aiden Kenyon finished with 9 saves (7 in the first half) and Victor’s Liam Haller finished with 14 saves (including 5 in the fourth quarter). Both goalies were named to the All Tournament Team. |

The Blue Devils took control early and held it for a huge chunk of the game. They led by four goals with four minutes remaining in regulation. Victor advances to the Sectional Finals for the Seventh straight season. |

Colin Peers scored his third goal of the afternoon to give the Red Raiders the victory. Over the past eleven years, JD and Fairport have faced off once a year. The Rams were on a five year streak before the Red Raiders defeated them last year 14-12. |
# 2828 Brighton Defeats CBA in 2OT Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the closest of games played today, Brighton's junior attackman Lukas Stanat scored the winning goal in the second overtime period. The first quarter was close with Christian Brothers Academy up 2-1, but the Barons responded before the half with four goals and took the halftime breat up 5-3. Five goals from the Brothers in the third quarter tied the game at 8-8 to start the last quarter. Both teams scored three in the final tweleve minutes. With around three minutes left in the game and Brighton up 11-8, the Brothers surged, tying the game with 0:11. Six different Barons made the offensive book led by Casey McDermott (2g-5a) and Stanat (3g-2a). Leading the Brothers were Colin Kelly (2g-3a), Preston Taylor (3g-1a) and Ryan Mackenzie (1g-3a). Brighton, now 4-1 will play Spencerport on Tuesday. |
