Out of Section Teams Won Many Today
Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: R-H won their third game in a row with a win against Livonia-Avon. After leading for the majority of three quarters, R-H had to fight back in the final five minutes to defeat Livonia-Avon 10-9. The Royal Comets had not scored in over twelve minutes when Nick Cowie scored the game winning goal with 0:17 left in regulation. (Story Continues).
Senior Eli Chalmers fed Patrick Mitchell for the game winning goal 3:40 into the first overtime period to give Churchville-Chili the 12-11 win over Williamsville North. Tonight, was opening night of the new Saint’s turf field and Chalmers was a demonstrative force as he finished with 6g-3a and was a part of 75% of all Churchville-Chili goals. (Story Continues).
Midlakes broke one tie and led the rest of the game in their 8-5 win over Haverling. Senior attackman Brandon Macdonell led the offense with 3g-2a and senior goalie Jacob Borrelli made 8s (62%). Jordan Deats had 3g to lead the Rams.
Schroeder junior goalie Evan Alfano made 12s (63%) in the Warrior's season opening game at Spencerport. Schroeder took an early lead, but the Rangers kept fighting back with leading scorer Jacob Zimmerman (3g). Ten different Schroeder players made the offensive book which was led by junior attackman Cole Bollin (2g-4a).
Nine players made the Victor Blue Devil book when they beat Irondequoit 14-9 this afternoon. Junior attackman Camden Hay led the pack with 3g-2a. Junior face-off specialist Regan Endres won 24 of 26 faceoffs for Victor and added 1g-1a, while goalie Liam Haller recorded 13s (59%). There was no report from Irondequoit tonight, but it looked like Jack Brennan led the offense for the Eagle.
Eleven of the sixteen games played today were with out of section teams and the section five teams only won two. Among the losses was Pittsford who after a close three quarter, St. Joseph’s Collegiate pulled away with eight unanswered goals spanning the third and fourth quarters to defeat Pittsford 12-7. The Marauders were led in scoring by Evan Mulderig with 5g-1a. He played a role in half of the St. Joseph goals. Pittsford was led in scoring by Ryan Dumont (2g-12a) and Sonny Imburgia (1g-2a). Notable out of section games saw West Genesee over Penfield, Corning over Fairport, Thomas over Clarence, Baldwinsville over McQuaid, St. Francis over Aquinas, Marcellus over Penn Yan (in OT), City Honors (Section VI) over East United, Medina over Newark and Chenango Forks over Waterloo.
