Aquinas overcame an early deficit to defeat Thomas 11-8 on Sunday. Leading scorers for Aquinas were Jake Guggino and Tano Auriuso with four goals each, while Jake Polizzi led Thomas with three goals and one assist. Aquinas goalie Jake Gibson recorded 23 saves with a 74% save percentage. Aquinas moves on to face Canandaigua in the quarterfinals, while Thomas concludes their season at 7-10.
McQuaid Jesuit secured its first-ever win over Thomas with a 12-9 victory. Leading scorers included John Burrows and Domenic Giangreco for McQuaid Jesuit, while Thomas was led by Lucas Estelle’s five goals. Senior goalie Jack Rawleigh made ten saves, reaching his 200th career stop, while junior Domenic Giangreco dominated faceoffs with 23 wins. McQuaid now moves forward as the top seed in Class A, while Thomas prepares for a first-round matchup in Class B.
