Week In Review - Week 1
EDITOR'S NOTE: This weekly summary touches on some of the games played in the recent past and highlights some games of interest in the current week. For more in-depth coverage, click on the DAY OF THE WEEK for more coverage for that day, including box scores, articles, and galleries.
There twenty-eight games played last week. There are seventy-six out of section games scheduled and 5 have been played. Section V teams have won 4 and lost 1 (80%). There are many undefeated teams at this point.

Looking Back
On Tuesday here were nine games played today and three were close ones. Fairport was a 5-4 winner over Hilton. Bloomfield-Honeoye defeated Brockport by a score of 8-6 and East United-Eastridge defeated Newark by a score of 7-5. Schroeder had a 10-7 win at Brighton and Irondequoit had a good win against Thomas.
On Wednesday there was a single game in which Aquinas beat Aquinas.
On Thursday There were eleven games played today and 2 were close ones. Pal-Mac was a 8-7 winner over Geneva. McQuaid Jesuit defeated Pittsford by a score of 8-7.
On Friday There were two games played today and both of them were won by more than three goals. Fairport beat Schroeder and Spencerport beat Wayne.
On Saturday Braden Finger scored the winning goal with an assist from Mike Gigliotti in the third overtime period to give Penn Yan an exciting opening day win against Westhill (Section III). Canandaigua and Geneva played their annual early season game with the Gray Wolves taking the win on the road. In a high scoring game, McQuaid Jesuit defeated Aquinas 22-14.
Looking Ahead
It is vacation week and there are only twenty-four games on the schedule. Many are out of section games and a couple of teams are on the road.
There are five games scheduled for Monday including Brighton at HFL and Canandaigua at Greece Storm. There are no games scheduled for Monday.
There are six games set for Tuesday. Among the interesting ones are Victor playing Don Bosco Prep, a top team in New Jersey and Hilton at Irondequoit.
Canandaigua is at Fairport on Wednesday.
On Thursday there are seven games. Out of town games include Thomas at BVille, Penfield on Long Island (West Islip), Victor is at Rye (Section I) and Penn Yan is at Seton Catholic. HFL will play at Rush-Henrietta at 5:00 while Haverling is at Marcus Whitman.
On Friday, Brighton travels to Horseheads (Section IV) and McQuaid Jesuit hosts Loveland (Ohio) for a night game. The Tigers are currently 2-4 are will play LaFayette on Saturday.
Saturday has eight games on deck, all out-of-league contests. Of note is the Aquinas at Saint Peter and Paul ((MD) game. Baldwinsville will come here to play Irondequoit and West Genesee will travel to Fairport.
