Week In Review - Week 8

EDITOR'S NOTE: This weekly summary touches on some of the games played in the recent past and highlights some games of interest in the current week. For more in-depth coverage, click on the DAY OF THE WEEK for more coverage for that day, including box scores, articles, and galleries.

There were forty-nine games played last week with a few won in overtime. At the moment there are fifty-two out of section games scheduled and forty have been played. Section V teams have won thirty and lost twenty-one (59%). Victor (15-0) is still the only undefeated team left at this point.

Looking Back

The week started on Monday with  McQuaid defeating Bishop Kearney

Tuesday was a busy day some close games including three one-goal games. Penn Yan beat Haverling 8-7, Pittsford beat Spencerport 8-7 and Thomas beat R-H 14-13 in OT.

On Wednesday Livonia-Avon beat McQuaid Jesuit and Wayne defeated Mynderse.

Spencerport attackman Justin Schnauber and Churchville-Chili defenseman Liam Podszebka were named Players of the Week.

OP at Pittsford

On Thursday a fourth quarter surge gave the Red Raiders the win over Penn Yan. Victor survived a scare in their 12-8 win vs Schroeder and Midlakes-Red Jacket won a 10-8 game against the Pride.

On Friday Canandaigua bumped their record to 11-4 with their win over Penfield. Mynderse was a 10-5 winner over visiting Bishop Kearney and Wayne defeated Gananda, boosting their record to 10-3.

The week finished on Saturday  where Batavia-Notre Dame celebrated Senior Day with their first win since 2017. Hilton scored in the last two minutes of the game with Schroeder. Brighton won their game with HF-L and the Pride had a 9-8 win over Midlakes-Red Jacket.

Looking Ahead

Haverling at AQThis is the last week of the regular season and there are forty-five games left to be played.

There are five games scheduled for Monday including Newark at Geneva.

On Tuesday there are fourteen games set including Spencerport at Rush-Henrietta, Canandaigua at Pittsford and Thomas at Victor.

Geneva will play McQuaid Jesuit on Wednesday.

On Thursday there are a fourteen more games scheduled including Gananda at Midlakes, Greece at Newark, Irondequoit at Penfield and Wayne at Livonia.

There are three games on Friday including HF-L at Hilton.

On Saturday the regular season ends with six games including McQuaid Jesuit at Fairport.

Seeding of the tournaments will be published here on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon.
