Brighton Looking for Culture Change

Brighton 2022

Class B - Monroe County League

Brighton had only two players with experience on the 2021 team and had a killer scheduled that resulted in a 5-10 season, but there were valuable lessons learned and Coach Benedict has a good group of seniors returning.

BrightonSophomore Thomas D'Angelo returns as the starting goalie. Senior defenseman Ben Vitale will play in front of him again. In the midfielder are seniors Liam McGuire (10g-4a), Cal Oberst (8g-4a) and TJ Carl (16g-9a). All three were starters last year. McGuire and Carl are both planning to play at Vassar next year.

Coach Benedict is a product of the Penn Yan program and has been working hard to change the culture of the lacrosse program to one of his own. "This is an exciting opportunity. We have had a lot of seniors buy in to the bigger picture at hand. I am looking forward to this group setting the tone for the culture of our program. Last year was a challenge, but it provided chances for us to grow as a team, as leaders, and as people. We have a lot of guys who put in a ton of time in the off-season. We are excited to play this great game together and to do it the right way."

The Bruins are in brutal Class B and MC2 alignments. There are no "easy days" this year and every game will be a test as they play Victor, Penfield, Thomas, Canandaigua, Spencerport, and Schroeder in their league. Out of league include Pal-Mac, Geneva, Hilton, HF-L, Fairport, Pittsford, and Greece.
