Tuesday: Spencerport In OT Win over Gates Chili
DAY IN REVIEW: The season started in earnest on Tuesdays with eleven games in the damp but not snowy weather often seen in the first week. There were mismatches and some close ones. Big score winners were McQuaid, Midlakes, Haverling, Pittsford and Skaneatles (over visiting Mynderse).
More challenging games included Thomas over Brighton, HF-L over Eastridge and Corning over traveling Geneva.
The exciting games began with an overtime thriller with Spencerport junior midfielder scoring the winning goal with six seconds left in the first overtime. VanWie was dominant throughout the game, winning 19/25 face offs and leading his team with 20 ground balls. This was the 21st time that the Rangers had faced the Spartans and with the win they moved to 10-11 against Gates Chili. Continues
Nick and Andrew Leonardi scored their first Varsity points in the 13-12 win for Greece Arcadia/Olympia over Brockport. Nick`s first point of his career came earlier with an assist to Adrian Romero; however, his first goal was from Andrew`s first point with 2:37 left in regulation to give the Lightning a one point lead to secure the victory. Irondequoit scored the last four goals to defeat Webster Schroeder 5-4 this afternoon. The Warrior did not score in the final 26 minutes spanning three quarters. Sophomore Jack Brennan finished with four of the five goals for the Eagles. Senior goalie, Patrick Hynes, was a big contributor finishing with twelve saves. Continues
