Mynderse Over Livonia in OT

GAME NOTES: The final game of the regular season saw Mynderse defeating Livonia 17-14. In the first round of sectionals, Livonia forced overtime, but the result was the same. Mynderse won 10-9 when Brad Sandroni scored a goal with 0:43 remaining in the first overtime period. Unlike Thursday`s game, this game took a defensive tone from the first quarter. Livonia got on the board at 7:09 of the first with a goal from Tim Lischer. Mynderse took 12 shots in the first with no luck as Justin LaDuke had 5 of his 14 for the Rams.

Livonia scored two quick goals to start the second period with Lischer scoring the first and assisting the second to Reid Mattle. The Bulldogs led 3-0 with 10:14 remaining in the half. Mynderse got their offense churning midway through the second, with a three minute stretch where they scored 4 goals. Scott Kline started the scoring with an unassisted goals, dodging down the right hand side. The second came from Jake Curran, as he worked the crease after getting a feed from Kline. Twenty-three seconds later, after a face off win by Ben Cafolla, Cody Warshel scored with a feed from Nick Shaffer. The fourth game was scored by Shaffer finishing on the crease with a feed from Warshel. Mynderse took the 4-3 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Livonia tied the game early and took the lead back going into the fourth quarter. Nick Kallio and Kirk Kornbau scored back to back for the Bulldogs to give them a 5-4 lead less than 90 seconds into the half. The only Blue Devil goal of the third quarter were scored by Scott Kline (unassisted). Livonia added one more goal to end the quarter up by one (6-5).
