Semi: Victor to Meet Pittsford in Finals
SPORTSFIVE REPORT:
Victor scored thirteen goals before Webster Schroeder got on the board. The Blue Devils won 21-4. They score too many unanswered goals to itemize each play. However, some stand-out performances throughout the game included: Ryan Maloney intercepting a pass between a defenseman and the goalie and scoring behind the back without breaking stride and long stick Patrick Barrow taking the ball coast and coast and scoring. Schroeder's first goal was scored with an impressive cross crease feed through traffic from Conor Bollin to Collin Griffin. Bollin finished with 2g-1a on 4 goals for the Warriors.
Although the Blue Devils scored 21 points, goalie, Antonio Deleo had a number of strong saves for Schroeder. He finished with 16 recorded saves including a number of strong point-blank saves in the second half. The Blue Devils had three different goalies split time between the pipes. Chayse Ierlan played 32 minutes and recorded 1 save, Brennan Mackey played 9 minutes without a save and Connor Solomon played the final 7 minutes with 1 recorded save.
Victor will continue to play and will face second seeded Pittsford on May 31st at Fisher. They will play in the second game of the Class A Girls/Boys Finals at 7:00. When the Blue Devils and Panthers faced during the regular season, Victor defeated Pittsford 9-6. It was one of only two losses for the Panthers. Victor has not been defeated since the NYS Semi-Finals in 2014 where they lost to JD 17-13, the have won their last 40 consecutive matches.
