Simpson Reaches 200 Saves as Victor Tops West Genesee
WEST GENESEE-4 at VICTOR-13 - Victor handled West Genesee 13-4 Saturday in a non-league game at Victor, building a 7-3 halftime lead and
holding the Wildcats to one goal over the final two quarters. Junior goalie Will Simpson reached a career milestone in the process, recording his 200th varsity save on the way to 21 saves on the afternoon.
For Victor (2-0), junior attackman Matthew Herendeen led with one goal and four assists, while senior midfielder Colin Wheeler added three goals and one assist and junior attackman Jackson Mead contributed one goal and two assists. Eli Ricci scored three goals, and Will Johnson and Gage Hay each added two goals. Two players scored their first varsity goals, junior defenseman Tim McAuliffe and senior midfielder Hay. Sophomore Eli Ricci went 12-for-19 at the faceoff dot (63%). Simpson's 21-save, 84% performance in goal was the other standout of the afternoon.
