Spencerport Holds Off Schroeder 7-4

Spencerport moved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-4 Monroe County D-2 win over Schroeder on Tuesday. The Rangers scored three goals in the first quarter and two more in the second to build a 5-2 halftime lead, and then held off a Schroeder push to close it out. Senior Zach Tortora recorded his 200th career point in the contest.

Leading Spencerport (2-0) was Tortora with three goals, while junior midfielder Patrick Keady added two goals and one assist and sophomore attackman Gavin Brown chipped in two goals. Sophomore Mason Endres contributed two assists and sophomore Tyler Wentworth added one assist.

For Schroeder (0-1), junior John Caricati led the Warriors with two goals while also winning eight of 15 faceoffs (53%). Junior attackman Aiden Vollmer scored one goal — his first career varsity goal — and junior Jonny May added one goal. Junior goalie Van Bolton reached 202 career saves on the night, stopping 14 of 21 shots (67%) over 48 minutes.

Spencerport will host Fairport on Thursday, March 26 at 6:15 PM. Schroeder will travel to Irondequoit on Thursday, March 26 at 6:00 PM.
