A Season of Growth and Unyielding Determination

As the Victor Boys Lacrosse team prepares for the 2025 season, there's an air of anticipation and optimism in the air. PenfieldThe team, under the guidance of Head Coach Dan Stone, is looking to build upon an impressive 2024 season where they boasted an 18-4 record and an exciting end of the year.

Key Losses and Impact

The team bid farewell to 12 seniors, including notable players such as Jack Herendeen, who was a US Lacrosse All-American and Section 5 MVP, and Parker Erwin, the stellar goalie with an outstanding save percentage. Graduates including Christian Besaw, Aiden Clinkscales, Cam Ryan, Tanner Radogna and JT Werkmeister have left big shoes to fill, having earned several accolades during their time with the team.

Return of the Rising Stars

Despite these significant departures, Victor is in a strong position with 14 rising seniors, including key returning players like Kyle Saeger and Brody Secker. Saeger (Jacksonville) and Secker Binghamton), both of whom have committed to their future college teams, were instrumental last season, with Saeger scoring 28 goals and Secker leading the team with 39 goals and 18 assists.

Statistical Review

PenfieldVictor showcased its offensive prowess last season, scoring a total of 215 goals, with a commendable average of 9.8 goals per game. They demonstrated defensive solidity too, conceding only 131 goals, averaging just 6.0 goals against per game. A good portion of the team's offensive firepower returns, with 57% of the goals and 38% of the assists coming from returning players.

Game-by-Game Performance

The 2024 season was marked by thrilling contests, with Victor winning eight games by a margin of five or more goals and finishing 13 games within a tight margin of five goals. This speaks to their competitive spirit and ability to perform under pressure. Highlights include a narrow 10-9 victory against Niskayuna and a dramatic 7-6 win over Canandaigua.

Heartbreaking Loss in NYS Championship

PenfieldThe season ended on a poignant note with a heart-wrenching loss to South Side in the NYS Championship final, where Victor fell short in overtime with a final score of 12-11. This loss has undoubtedly fueled their determination to come back stronger and more prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

Coach Stone says, "Preparation for 2025 began with an assignment given in June 2024: get stronger, faster, and more athletic. Players across the entire program have invested in achieving these goals; we look forward to competing and measuring our growth this season every day in practice and one game at a time."

As the Victor Boys Lacrosse team gears up for the new season, Coach Stone's impressive track record (67-10) and the blend of seasoned veterans and promising talent provide a solid foundation.
