Pittsford Wins and So Does HFL (in OT)

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - The first day of the Section V championships finished with an overtime win for Honeoye Falls-Lima and a 9-5 win for Pittsford.

McQuaid vs PittsfordMCQUAID JESUIT-5 vs PITTSFORD-9 in a Sect V Championship game - After finishing the last two seasons as the Runner-up, Pittsford finally became the Class A Champions.  The game was close for the first half before Pittsford took over in the third and fourth quarters.  The Panthers scored eight straight goals spanning the second, third and fourth quarters.  The Panther defense held the Knights scoreless for over 36 minutes.  Leading the charge for the Panthers was Tournament MVP senior attackman Rex Kesselring. 

Wayne vs HFLScoring for Pittsford (17-2) were Rex Kesselring (4g), Jackson Green (2g-1a),Avery Valenti (1g), Ian Erskine (1g), and Ben Steingass (1g). In the goal for Pittsford was senior Nolan Deehan with 7s/5ga = 58% (48 mins).

Scoring for McQuaid Jesuit (13-4) were Henry Coke (3g), Chris Woodard (1a), Vincenzo Giangreco (1g), and John Harding (1g). Facing off for McQuaid Jesuit was JP Gianforti with 8+/1- = 89% and Domenic Giangreco with 5+/3- = 63%. In the goal for McQuaid Jesuit was junior Will Gordon with 10s/9ga = 53% (48 mins).  Gordon reached his 300th goal in the game and finishes with 306.    [ BOX SCORE]   - -  SPECIAL REPORT - - More images in the photo gallery. 

Wayne vs HFLWAYNE-8 vs HFL-9 in a Sect V Championship game in OT - After finishing as the runner-up last season, HFL came back to win their second Section Five Title in 3 years with a double overtime 9-8 win over Wayne. This was the first double overtime Finals matchup since Victor over Thomas in 2018.  The Cougars’ Chase Perryman scored the game winner with 2:59 left in the second overtime period.  Perryman was named the Class B Tournament MVP and finished the game with 4g-2a. 

Also scoring for HFL (14-4) were Grady Goodberlet (2g-1a),  Mathew Brassie (1g-1a), Owen Smith (1g), Patrick Donahoe (1g), and Braydn Trybuskiewicz (2a).
