Nichols over Aquinas

Nichols faced their second Section Five opponent of the season tonight when they faced Aquinas. The Vikings defeated the Little Irish 8-6 after scoring four unanswered goals in the third quarter while holding Aquinas scores over the same period.  Their defense held off Aquinas for 18 minutes spanning the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.  Leading in scoring for Nichols was Jackson Glynn (2g-2a) and Matt Berdysiak (1g-3a).

Nichols at AquinasNichols started off strong with the opening two goals of the game.  Jullian Freeman and Marcus Ottaviano scored back to back with both getting the feed from Berdysiak.  The Little Irish fought back with the last two goals of the quarter to tie the game at 2-2 after 12 minutes.  Tanner Olbrich scored both goals.  In the second quarter Aquinas added two and held the Vikings to only one.  Olbrich scored his third straight off an assist from Jake Reed.  The Little Irish led 4-3 at halftime.

The third quarter belonged to the Vikings.  Glynn added two goals, Berdyusiak and Freeman added one each and Nichols led 7-4 after 36 minutes.  Aquinas attempted  to push back in the fourth (winning the quarter 2-1), but it was not enough and they never got closer than two.
