The Season Opens with Livonia-Avon Win

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: The 2019 season officially started with Brockport and Livonia-Avon playing the first game of the year and the only game of the day.

The game was evenly matched with each team taking control. The Lakers scored first about halfway through the first quarter but with sixteen seconds left the teams were tied at two. On the face off, The Lakers scored with eleven seconds left and the teams ended the quarter with Livonia-Avon up 3-2.

Brockport tied the game with eight minutes left in the half, but the Lakers came back with two more and led 5-3 with a minute and a half in the half. Thirty seconds later, the Blue Devils came back and the half ended with Livonia-Avon up 5-4.

The second half was very much like the first with the Lakers taking a lead, and Brockport coming back.

All three goalies had a good start, making exciting saves. Brockport goalie, Ed Rowley played the whole game for the Blue Devils and ended with sixteen saves (59%). The Lakers split time with Isaac Sweet playing three quarters (7s/6ga=54%) and Michael Germano playing the last quarter with six saves (67%).

Leading the offense for the Lakers was Junior midfielder Ryan Haugh with 2g-2a and for the Blue Devils was senior midfielder Matt Heyden with 1g-3a.
