Wednesday: Spencerport and Batavia Win

Spencerport and Gates Chili played a close and often exciting game which the Rangers won 11-10. Batavia won their game with Avon 7-4.

--  SPORTSFIVE REPORT: Gates Chili played a strong first half before Spencerport scored seven unanswered goals to take an 8-4 lead in the third quarter. The Spartans came back in the fourth quarter to bring the game within one goal, but, despite a number of tries, could not tie the game in the final minute.

The Spartans scored four of the first five goals to lead 4-1 with 11:15 remaining in the second quarter. Brett Kirkpatrick scored three of the four goals with Joseph O`Hare scoring the fourth. Alex Renz scored the first Ranger goal. Starting with Colin McElligott scored the first of his five goals with 7:58 remaining in the second quarter to start the seven goal stretch. The Spartans fought back hard in the fourth quarter, including their own four goals stretch in less than four minutes to take the game from 10-6 to 10-9, but they never tied the game again after 4-4 in the second quarter.

Spencerport's McElligott and Owe VanWie finished with five ground balls each to lead their team. Kirkpatrick also finished with 5 for the Spartans. In the cage for the Rangers, Connor MacKenzie recorded 13 saves and finished at 57%. For Gates Chili, CJ Parker finished at 54%, also with 13 saves.
