Gates Chili Pulls Away in Fourth Quarter

After three back and forth quarters, Gates Chili pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Rush-Henrietta 9-6.  The Spartans held the Royal Comets scoreless in the final 12 minutes while adding four of their own.

Kyle Krystan scored the opening goal of the game with 9:01 remaining in the first quarter.  The Spartan goal was assisted by Carson Spychala.  RH came back with two of their own to take the lead.  Cody Mullins and Zack Lenhard scored.  Nicholas Ehmann tied the game with 0;06 remaining in the first quarter with an unassisted goal.  The score was tied 2-2 after 12 minutes.

The Spartans came into the second quarter and added two more goals to lead 4-2 with 5:05 remaining in the half.  RH didn't let up and added three before the half to re-take the lead.  James LaRocca scored all three goals with Brandon Waden assisting on the first and third.  The Royal Comets led 5-4 at halftime.

Both teams added a single goal in the third quarter (6-5 after three), before Gates Chili took off in the final quarter.  Each of the four goals in the fourth was scored by a different Spartan.  LSM CJ Parker led in ground balls with 6 for the Spartans.
