Irondequoit holds off late advance

Irondequoit took a four goal lead twice in the second quarter and held off the late advance by Hilton to defeat the Cadets 8-7. Hilton scored the final three goals of the game and held the Eagles scoreless for the final 16:42.

Irondequoit came out strong and score five of the first six goals to lead 5-1 with 7:03 remaining in the second quarter.  Kessel Stefano and Jack Brennan each scored two goals in the opening volley with Nick Slattery scoring the fifth goal.  Hilton's Michael Rudy scored their first goal off a feed from Jordan DePetres.  Irondequoit continued their pressure to halftime and led 7-4 at the break.

In the second half, Hilton pressed hard to tie the game.  They scored three goals and held the Eagles to only a single goal in the second half.  The final Cadet goal was scored with 6:42 remaining.  With approximately 3 minutes left on the clock, the Eagles gained control of the ball and were able to hold possession and secure the win.

DePetres led in scoring for Hilton with 3g-1a.  Face off midfielder Shawn Doran led in ground balls with 8 and finished 12/18 at the draw.  In the cage, Jacob VanWuychuyse recorded 5 saves.
