Aquinas scored the last five goals of the contest but it was not enough to dethrone the reigning Class C Champions. Penn Yan defeated the Little Irish 8-7. Aquinas was led in scoring by senior Alex Bianchi with 4g-1a. Bianchi graduates with 166g-83a and heads to Mercyhurst University next season. Penn Yan had six players make the scorebook with Austin Finger finishing with 2g-1a and Andrew Perl with 3g. Of the fifteen goals scored, only four were assisted.

The Mustangs scored four goals in the opening quarter. The first goal was scored when Perl drove from behind the cage after a dead ball and put the ball into the back of the net. Two minutes later Aquinas tied the game with a drive from the top of the restraining line by Nick Tschetter. The game remained close for the next five minutes before Penn Yan scored three goals in the last 1:09. Sean Emerson scored his lone goal of the game after breaking a clear and taking the ball straight to the back of the net. The next goal was scored after a missed shot went wide off the crease and Perl picked it up for the garbage goal. The final goal of the quarter was scored with 0:01 remaining and was one of the four assisted goals. Bradley Voigt assisted Austin Finger with an underhanded pass to the high crease. Penn Yan led 4-1 going into the second quarter.

Aquinas scored first in the second quarter with Bianchi's first goal. He drove straight down the left side of the cage for his goal. Penn Yan added the next two goals. Fingar began the next play after finding Rion Davison cutting across a high crease line. Davison caught the ball mid-stride and finished into the top corner of the goal. Six minutes later Davison scored his second goal with a sweep down the side and a second shot to the upper corner. Penn Yan led 6-2 going into halftime.

The pressure didn't stop in the third quarter with the Mustangs scoring the first two goals. Fingar scored with a drive to the cage and Perl scored off an outside shot. The Mustangs led 8-2 with 9:58 remaining in the third quarter but they did not score again. Aquinas added only one goal in the third quarter with Bianchi single handedly taking the ball, picking up the loose ball and scoring unassisted with 9:43 remaining (only 0:15 after the last Penn Yan goal).

The first two goals of the fourth quarter were both scored during man-up play. Bianchi assisted Jonathan Olbrich, who scored on an outside shot before scoring, unassisted, with an inside dodge. Jamison Whitfield scored with 0:29 remaining to bring the game within two and then Alex Bianchi scored 0:07 later to take the game to within one. Bianchi picked up a loose ball halfway to the crease and fired it into the corner. On the ensuing face off, Aquinas called a timeout to get possession and had one last chance at the cage. Olbrich took the shot, but it was deflected by a defenseman and never reached the goal.

In the cage for Penn Yan, Brandon Maciejewski finished at 61% with 11 saves. Fingar, a midfielder, finished with four ground balls to lead the Mustangs. Defenseman Jake Covert added three ground balls to the count. For Aquinas, Andrew Kausch finished with 10 saves (56%). Face off midfielder Terrance Richards finished at 77% (13/17) and led his team with nine ground balls. He was a major factor in Aquinas` late scoring. He gave them repeated possessions in the second half. Defenseman Liam Smith finished with five ground balls to add to the Little Irish total. Penn Yan will move on to play Pal-Mac on Tuesday at 5:15 at Webster Schroeder High School.
