Saturday: Both Class B Winners Win in Overtime
With the semifinals concluded, the teams are set for the 2016 Section Five Championships. Victor will play Pittsford in Class A, Thomas will play Canandaigua in Class B and Penn Yan will play Aquinas in Class C.

Thursday: Thomas Beats Pittsford in Overtime
In a game that see-sawed back and forth, Thomas scored the winning goal in overtime to defeat Pittsford 12-11. On the other end of town Penfield defeated Schroeder by a goal in the last minute of the game.

Tuesday: Thunder Over Brockport, Thomas Over Schroeder
The Greece Thunder was a one goal winner over Brockport in the closest game of the day. Irondequoit had a 13-7 win over Penfield and Wayne took Waterloo.

Gananda ruined Wayne`s undefeated season with a one goal win (10-9) on this last Saturday of the regular season. Brockport took a one goal win from Eastridge and Brighton was a 9-6 winner over visiting Lightning.

The Eagles took their record to 13-0 with their win today over Newark. Junior offensiveman Jon Ecker, who lead the team in goals (with 50g-18a) was the leader in this game with 4g-2a.

Monday: Avon and Brockport Win Today
Five games were played on Monday. Avon beat Batavia 8-4 and Wayne beat the Thunder 12-7. Other winners were Pal-Mac over Geneva. Brockport over Newark and Canandaigua over McQuaid Jesuit.

Friday: Wayne Takes Pal-Mac 7-5
After a 6-4 half, Wayne and Pal-Mac traded goals in the second half and the Eagle took a 7-5 win aft home. Other winners on Friday night were Mynderse, Gananda and Geneva.

Among the seventeen games played today were two in Webster and they both had exciting finishes. Schroeder hosted Fairport in a game that started with a 1-1 half and ended with the Raiders winning 4-3.

Fourteen of the fifteen games played today were mismatches of various magnitudes. The most exciting game of the day was the overtime win by Spencerport over Brockport.

There were interesting games today and two of the more interesting were won by one goal. Thomas beat Fairport 12-11 and Penfield beat Penn Yan 9-8. Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 16-13 and Irondequoit defeated Brighton 10-7.

Saturday: Churchville-Chili Over Hilton in Overtime
After a close game throughout, the Saints took control at the end of the game and defeated Hilton at the very end of the first overtime period. Pittsford remained undefeated with an 11-7 win over Cazenovia.

Wednesday: Wayne Takes Gananda in Overtime
In a close game throughout, Gananda scored three goals in under a minute and a half to force overtime, where Wayne senior midfielder Cooper Pieroni scored the winning goal on a feed from Jack Camp to give the Eagles a 15-14 win. Avon defeated UPrep 17-10.

Brighton`s Brady McDermott scored with 0:59 remaining in regulation to secure a 14-13 win over Webster Thomas. Aquinas used two overtime periods to secure their win from Canisius as all but one team in the section played games today.

A number of teams took the opportunity to play out of section teams today. Only Webster Thomas was walked away with a win. In section, however, Schroeder beat Eastridge and Wayne beat Gates Chili.

Saturday: Thomas Over Hamburg
Webster Thomas played a close one with Hamburg (Section VI). The Titans led 5-3 at the half and the teams traded goals in the second half. Brad Smith and Nick Mabe each had 2g-2a for Thomas. Fairport (11-3) travelled south to beat Corning (12-4) of Section IV with TJ Hendricks (1g-2a) and Jake Bucci (2g-1a) leading the Red Raider offense.

Wayne Wins on Cradle for a Cure Night
Wayne hosted their fifth annual “Cradle for a Cure” event today and defeated Gananda 23-5. The “Cradle for a Cure” event began five years ago as a fundraising/awareness event after a local lacrosse player received a cancer diagnosis. Every year since, Wayne has hosted a multigame event with boys and girls lax with the hope of donating to both local charities and a local family in need of assistance. Earlier in the evening in the girls’ contest, Waterloo defeated Wayne 17-9 (HERE).

Wednesday: Wayne Over Marcus Whitman
Wayne Central (3-1) scored seven goals in the first quarter before defeating Marcus Whitman in a Finger Lakes League game. Eleven different players made the offensive scorebook and Zach Boyatzies lead the list with 2g-4a. Wayne senior goalie Jared Laird scored his first Varsity goals in the game and posted 2s (65%) in the cage. Seth Benedict scored 4g-1a for the Wildcats.

Wayne Overtime Win vs Gananda
Wayne remained undefeated with an overtime win against Gananda, 15-14. The Blue Panthers trailed by three with less than two minutes on the clock before forcing overtime with 0:02 remaining. The Screaming Eagles, who led from the third quarter on, scored the gaming winning goal with 2:32 remaining in the first overtime period. Cooper Pieroni scored his sixth goal of the game for Wayne.

Finger Lakes Releases Awards for 2016
The All Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes players for the 2016 season. Senior defenseman, Dylan Joy from Gananda was selected as Finger Lakes "Player of the Year". The "Midfielder of the Year" was Thomas Knapp from Wayne. The "Attackman of the Year" was Jon Ecker from Wayne and Wayne Head Coach Eric Carlsen was named Coach of the Year. Mike Denely from Bloomfield-Honeoye was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Mark Crane from Mark`s Pizzeria was named Man of the Year.
