# 3052 Newark Excited to Get Back to Playing Newark has a mixture of returning and new players on the varsity this year. Brandon McNeil had 9g-3a as a sophomore midfielder and plans to play at D`youville next year. His classmate, Jayden Shepherd had 9g-6a and is a three-sport athlete. The goalie spot this year looks like it will be filled by Caleb George Cody who had very limited time in 2019, but learned a great deal from Talyn Pierce who was the Goalie of the Year in the Finger Lakes. Coach Groot says, "Caleb will be the quarterback of the defense and has put in a lot of work into it!". Helping him will be Aaron Rodney-Spencer, a senior defenseman who the Reds will look to handle top opponent attackmen. |

# 1116 Five Sign NLIs in Penfield A good number of Penfield seniors including five boys lacrosse players and five girls lacrosse players met in the gym recently to celebrate their commitment to athletics in college with the signing of their Nation Letters of Intent. All five senior boys in the lacrosse program had two common comments about the Patriot lacrosse program. First, they consistently credited Head Coach John Schembri with teaching them skills that go beyond the lacrosse field, and second, they all spoke about winning [at least] a sectional title this year. |
# 989 Marcus Whitman Takes Newark Although the game was close for a half, Marcus Whitman outscored Newark 8-2 in the second half in their 11-3 victory. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Tyler Wolfe with 3g-4a. Attackman Matt Hall added three goals. Face off midfielder Lane Brown finished at 58% at the face-off draw and with a team leading six ground balls. Goalie Merritt Bailey and defenseman Pat Hall added five ground balls each. |

Junior attackman, Ben Reeves from Pal-Mac was, for the third year in a row, selected as Finger Lakes "Player of the Year". The "Midfielder of the Year" wasEddie Eddington from Geneva. The "Defenseman of the Year" was Dylan Joy from Gananda and Pal-Mac Head Coach Joe Hill was named Coach of the Year. Matt Morrin was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Tom Palmer from Gananda was named Man of the Year. Eddie Eddington was named a USLacrosse All American and Ben Reeves was named a USLacrosse Academic All American by the Section Five Coaches. |
# 725 Newark 9 - Brockport 8 NOTES: Newark scored the first goal and although Brockport kept the game close they never tied. The Reds won 9-8 with Conor Tickner coming up big with two saves at 0:12 and 0:04 remaining in regulation. Tickner finished the contest with 10 saves (56%). |

# 210 Ohio Northern Picks up Lucas Blaszyk Ohio Northern University picked up a second player from Section Five as Churchville-Chili senior attackman Lucas Blaszyk will join Newark defenseman Evan Corteville at the new NCAA Division III program. A three year Varsity player, Lucas ended his career with the Saints with 33g-13a and in his senior year had stat contributions in all seventeen games. An aggressive rider, Lucas had twenty-nine ground balls and recorded nine take aways in his senior year. |
