Dominant Performances Set the Stage for Quarters

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Two decisive victories highlighted today’s matchups as HFL powered past Hamburg 11-4,HFL vs Hamburg extending their winning streak to five games behind standout performances from Marco Vengoechea and Cash Arena. Meanwhile, Penn Yan delivered a commanding 19-8 win over Akron, fueled by stellar offensive contributions from Braden and Teagan Fingar alongside Tukker Fisher. Coach Brian Hobart notched his 325th career victory, leading Penn Yan into the next round. In total, two games were played, shaping the path for upcoming quarterfinal clashes.

HAMBURG-4 at HFL-11 - HFL defeated Hamburg 11-4 in the out-bracket game between Section V and VII held at Canandaigua, extending their winning streak to five games. Marco Vengoechea led HFL with four goals and one assist, while Cash Arena scored three times and Quinn Kailbourne contributed two goals and three assists. Jack McDonaldPY vs Akron led Hamburg with two goals. Sophomore goalie Jason Bennett recorded seven saves with a 64% save rate. This win marked head coach Eric Goodberlet’s 50th victory, adding to HFL’s strong season record.   [ Story and BOX SCORE] 

AKRON-8 at PENN YAN-19 - Penn Yan earned a 19-8 victory over Akron in the Class D NYS play-in game behind strong offensive performances from Braden Fingar, Teagan Fingar, and Tukker Fisher. Akron’s Charles Rebmann III led his team with three goals and an assist. Penn Yan goalie Will Thompson recorded eight saves for a 57% save percentage, while freshman Greyson Hathway won 23 of 29 faceoffs. The win marked coach Brian Hobart’s 325th career victory at Penn Yan who will now face Marcellus in the quarterfinals on Saturday.    [ Story and BOX SCORE]
