Fairport Over Mustangs

Fairport secured a 12-8 victory over Penn Yan in a non-league matchup tonight. The visiting team started strong, leading 2-0 after the first quarter and maintaining control with a 4-3 advantage by halftime. The third quarter saw Fairport extend its lead further, with Penn Yan pushing back in the final frame but unable to close the gap. Senior midfielder Teagan Fingar reached a career milestone, scoring two goals to bring his total to 201. Other scorers for Penn Yan included Braden Fingar (two goals), Mike Gigliotti (two goals, one assist), Tukker Fisher (one goal), and Greyson Hathway (one goal). In goal, Will Thompson recorded nine saves on 12 shots in 48 minutes.

Fairport spread its scoring across multiple players, with Mitchell Monte leading the effort with four goals and one assist. Andrew Crowley added three goals, Ryan Priddy contributed two, and Jack Gosiewski, Corey Roeser, and Rob Protz each tallied one. Liam Moreland assisted on two goals, and Ryan Cain added an assist. Fairport's defense was anchored by senior goalie Luke Ryan, who made nine saves on eight goals against, finishing with a 53% save rate over 48 minutes.

With the win, Fairport secured the second seed in the Class A tournament and will face the winner of Penfield vs. East United/Eastridge. Penn Yan, despite the loss, remains the top seed in Class D and will play the winner between Haverling and Waterloo.    [ Story and BOX SCORE
