TJ DiSanto Selects Binghamton and Signs NLI

The University of Binghamton has a long history of recruiting Section Five players and Head Coach Scott Nelson has picked up four more from this year's seniors, including Victor midfielder TJ DiSanto, who signed his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Fairport players Chris Bechle and Brian Martin and Irondequoit goalie Eric Fischer are also expected to play for the Bearcats.DiSanto Signing They will join Kraig Heston (AQ), JT Hauck (Thomas) and Tucker Nelson (Penfield) when they arrive on the Binghamton campus next fall.

TJ, along with teammates John Maloney and Mitch Rupp, were honored at the ceremony which was moderated by Victor Athletic Director Ron Whitcomb. "Not every one of our student-athletes can make that jump to a D-1 school. It's a tough measure. The bar is set extremely high," noted Whitcomb in his welcoming remarks.

Picking Albany first for its academic fit with his interest in biomedical engineering, TJ talked to Coach Marr. He said he "had had his eye on me for a while so it kind of played out perfectly."

Playing since third grade, it was his junior year when he realized that he could play at the Division I level. "I was brought up to Varsity as a freshman and played to the end of the year. Then I played sophomore year and in my junior year I had a breakout season, I guess. I played pretty well and put up some good statistics." The senior midfielder scored twenty-two of his career points last year.

"I thank my Mom and my Dad (Julie and Tim). They've been taking me everywhere since I was this tall, getting me to the places I needed to be, paying for tournaments. . . all that kind of stuff." He also thanked his coaches at Victor and Coach (Ed) Mulheron on his summer team.
