2025 Preview: Schroeder
A Year of Potential and Growth
The Schroeder Boys Lacrosse team is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, aiming to build on last year's respectable performance. Under the leadership of Head Coach Don Manard, the team finished with a 9-8 record in 2024, showcasing their potential and determination.
Key Losses and Returning Talent
The team has lost some key seniors, including standout players such as Casey Berns, Anthony DeRosa, Brady Miller (Messiah), Blake Preston (Clarkson), and Nate Schilling (York). These graduates left a significant mark, with DeRosa earning US Lacrosse Academic All-American honors and Berns being recognized as an All-League Honorable Mention Goalie. However, Schroeder's strength lies in its returning players.
Leading the charge are Garrett Conger, Jonny May, and Brennan Robinson, who all earned All-League Honorable Mention honors last year. Conger, with 19 goals and 9 assists, and Robinson, with 13 goals and 4 assists, will be pivotal in driving the team's offense.May, a promising sophomore, contributed 9 goals and 4 assists, adding depth to the attacking lineup. Senior Parker Brown will help the midfield group in 2025, The defense will be anchored by Junior Captain Ethan Anderson and Senior Caption Ross Champlin. Replacing four year varsity starter in goal, Schroeder will turn to Sophomore Van Bolton to tend the pipes in 2025.
Analyzing 2024 Performance
Schroeder's performance in 2024 was marked by a mix of dominant wins and close losses. The team won four games by a margin of +5 goals but also faced five tough losses by the same margin. Their ability to stay competitive in closer matches is evident, with eight games decided within a +/- 5 goal range.
