Victor Falls after Impressive Comeback

DAY IN REVIEW: SUNDAY - After a great comeback in the last quarter, the Blue Devils ran out of time and lost 9-8 to a strong Garden City team from Section VIII who won their second title in a row.

GARDEN CITY-9 at VICTOR-8 in a NYS Championship game - There were two ties early in the game, but Garden City scored five goals in a row in the second and third quarters to take a 6-2 lead. The Blue Devils saw goals from Pax Marshall and Sam Gotham to bring the game back to striking distance, but they were offset by three in a row by the Trojans. Gotham scored his 100th goal and his 50th assist in the game.

With 10:17 left in the game Victor started a four-goal scoring run ending with two by in a row from Aiden Clinkscales. In the last three minutes Garden City was able to keep the ball away from the Blue Devils.

Excellent, game winning efforts were seen by Garden City goalie Denis Fargione (11 saves) and defensive one-on-one defenseman, Cole Webber who held Thomas Gravino to just two assists. For Victor, Sam Ricci was demonstrative with fifteen faceoff wins.

Scoring for Victor (19-3) were senior attackman Pax Marshall (3g-1a), junior midfielder Aiden Clinkscales (2g-1a), senior attackman Sam Gotham (1g-1a), senior midfielder Thomas Gravino (2a), and junior attackman Jack Herendeen (2g-0a). Facing off for Victor was senior Sam Ricci with 15+/6- = 71%.  

Scoring for Garden City were Stevie Finnell (3g-1a), Jack Archer (2g-1a), Henry Gibbons (1g-2a), Carson Kraus (2g), Andrew Ottomanelli (1a), Blake Cascadden (1a), Tommy Esposito (1g). In the goal for GC was Denis Fargione with 11 saves.   [ BOX SCORE
