DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - The 2023 Section V tournaments began today with single out-bracket games in Classes B and D. Moving on to the quarterfinals are Haverling who won their game over Midlakes-Red Jacket 7-3 and Churchville-Chili who beat Gates Chili 16-4.

GATES CHILI-4 at CHURCHVILLE-CHILI-16 in a Sect V Out-Bracket game - The Saints scored five unanswered goals in the first quarter and kept pressing in their home-field win tonight. Freshman attackman Jaxon Leonard reached his 50th assist with his single assist in the game.  Leading the scoring for Churchville-Chili (4-13) were Colin Duncan (6g), Jaxon Leonard (3g-1a), Sean Levey (3g-1a), and Cameron Gefell (2a). Facing off for Churchville-Chili, Brayden Hoak won 7+/1- = 88%, and Brock Osborne won 6+/5- = 55%. In the goal for Churchville-Chili was senior Bradley Shaw with 2s/1ga = 67% (12 mins), and senior Joseph Carrozzi with 4s/1ga = 80% (12 mins). The Saints will play Victor on Wednesday.

Scoring for Gates Chili (2-15) were senior attackman Andrew Hewitt (2g), senior midfielder Jory Knauf (2g), and junior attackman Owen Curley (1a).    [ BOX SCORE] 

MIDLAKES-RED JACKET-3 at HAVERLING-7 in a Sect V Out-Bracket game - The Rams were up 2-1 after the first quarter and 3-1 at the half. Scoring for Haverling (3-13) were sophomore offensiveman Gavin Price (3g-2a), freshman midfielder Zach Colegrove (1g-2a), junior attackman Connor Brundage (1g), and freshman A/M Drew Spears (2g). In the goal for Haverling was freshman McLane Stermole with 19s/3ga = 86% (48 mins).   There was no report from Midlakes-Red Jacket (3-14) at post-time.    [ BOX SCORE]
