Players of the Week - Group Three

Section V Boys Lacrosse Coordinator Mike Simon in conjunction with the Canandaigua National Bank are, once again, sponsoring recognition of noteworthy performances throughout the season.

In our second group we have a sophomore and a junior who have had noteworthy performances in the last two weeks.

Offensive Player of the Week

Sean OlvanyTeagan Fingar - Penn Yan Attackman

Teagan Fingar leads the Mustangs in goals, assists and points with 24-13. He was in on three out of seven goals in the Geneva 7-5 win, more than half the points in the Canandaigua one-goal loss and has averaged 4.6 points per game.

Penn Yan Head Coach Brian Hobart says: "Teagan has worked very hard at his game, the time he puts in outside of practice is really paying off.  He is developing as a leader of our offense."

Defensive Player of the Week

Jason MosherTJ Phelan - Gates Chili Goalie

Usually, the Player of the Week plays on a team that has a good number of wins, but the selection of junior goalie TJ Phelan is in recognition of the Spartan's first win of the season. In their 6-5 overtime win at Brockport, TJ made eighteen saves (78%).

Gates Chili Head Coach Cam Gormel says, "Going into that game we were down eight of our starting players, two of which were our top close defensemen. TJ stepped up by talking our defense and middies through our slides and back up calls. He also made several saves on the crease area, which allowed us to keep it close and eventually come from behind and tie the game up within the end of regulation. He also earned several possessions for us throughout the game from chasing shots and beating opposing attackmen, which led to more overall team possessions. In the first two OTs, he made four saves, three of which were in close, keeping the team in the game and allowing us to win it in the 3rd OT."
