Rush-Henrietta - Looking for Improvement
Rush-Henrietta 2022
Class A - Monroe County League
The Royal Comets have been trying to turn the corner under fifth year Head Coach Tom MacMillan and they turn that corner this year. In the current season they have won their first three games, outscoring their opponents 54-16.
Things are expected to start at the faceoff where junior middie Mike Valent has been working hard off season and has already posted (7g-5a) and has won 57 of 70 (81%) at the "X".
Also controlling the midfield is senior Chase Petschke who turned in 39g-28a-18tks last year where he led in goals and assists. Coach MacMillan says "Chase is a two-way midfielder who is a great dodger and a tenacious defender. We expect big things from Chase this year. I think that he will be one of the best in the section." More strength at the midfield comes from senior Killian Ceci, a four year varsity player who had 35g-15a last year. "Teams will have to put one of their best on Killian if you are going to stop him," according to his coach.
In the defense is junior Kaden Johnson who returns with 18gbs and 16 takes. " He is a great on ball defender and works as hard as anybody," says Coach MacMillan. There are three goalies on the roster and the Royal Comets have used all three thus far this year. Junior Connor Newberry and senior Isaac Craft are returners and freshman Daniel Schmitz is new to the varsity.
Rush-Henrietta is a Class A and Monroe County D1 team so they will see almost all of the competition in the tournament during the season. Besides league games with Pittsford, Fairport, Greece and Hilton, the Royal Comets have games withChurchville-Chili, Canandaigua, Victor, Penfield, Schroeder, Thomas, Brighton and Spencerport. They also will play an out-of-section game against Lancaster.
Coach MacMillan is looking forward to this season. "All games will be a test for R-H to see how much they have improved as a program. We have the experience we just have to show up and believe that we belong."
