Tuesday: Thomas Downs Canandaigua, Penfield Over Irondequoit
-- Game NOTE: Marcus Whitman scored the final four goals of the contest. Defensemen Dylan Joy (8) and Kevin Schutt (6) led Gananda in ground balls.
-- Game NOTE: After going back and forth for three quarters, Hilton scored the final six goals of the game to defeat Rush-Henrietta. Face off midfielder Harald Juergens finished 20/23 (87%) with a team leading 11 ground balls. Midfielder Ricky Cocilova and attackman Shawn Kimble finished with six ground balls each.
-- The Patriots scored the final three goals to defeat Irondequoit 9-8. Penfield only led the game for 9:39 spanning two periods late in the game. They scored the tying goal with 3:52 remaining in the game and the winning goal with 3:29 remaining. The Eagles scored the first two goals with Raymond Shalvoy scoring back to back goals less than one minute apart. His first goal was assisted by Andy Schwin and his second was assisted by Ben Brooks. The latter goal was scored during man-up. Penfield came back and tied the game with goals from attackman Andrew Schoeneck and defenseman Charlie Cummins. Schoeneck finished with 4g-1a to lead the Patriots' offense. Irondequoit scored the last goal of the first quarter with 0:11 left to take the lead. Jacy Karpovage scored with an assist from Shalvoy. Shalvoy finished with 2g-1a, which all happened in the first three Eagle goals. In the second quarter, Irondequoit extended their lead to two with an unassisted goal from Brooks. Two minute later Schoeneck scored his second goal (unassisted). The play went back and forth for five minutes before Brooks scored his second goal to give the Eagles their third two goal lead of the game. Penfield added the next two goals before the close of the half and tied the game going into halftime. Brian Wall and Max Spaan scored the goals. Spaan's goal was with 0:51 remaining on the clock. Penfield took their first lead of the game with 7:50 remaining in the third quarter. Spaan scored his unassisted goal for the Patriots. They remained ahead for 5:50 until Joshua Merkel scored the first of his back to back goals to tie the game once again. 1:05 later, Merkel scored his second goal to give the Eagles the lead. The score was 7-6 after three quarters. The first goal of the final quarter was scored by Joel Roemer to give Irondequoit a two goal lead with 9:57 left to play. Penfield scored the final three goals to win the contest. In the cage for Penfield, Liam Guiton finished with nine saves (53%). Face off man Anthony Mitchell finished 14/21 at the face-off draw with a team leading nine ground balls. For Irondequoit, Alex Shoemaker finished at 50% with nine saves.
-- Game NOTE: Tim Wright scored the only goal of the fourth quarter to secure the victory for Waterloo. The Blue Devils were held scoreless for the last 16:04.
-- Greece Arcadia/Olympia fought back from a 5-2 deficit in the third quarter to defeat Gates Chili 8-6. The Lightning scored six of the last seven goals in the contest, including the final three to go from one goal behind to leading by two. The go-ahead goal was scored with only 2:18 remaining in the contest by Connor May. The Spartans scored the only goal of the first quarter with Joe Caccamise assisting Jon Taliento. Taliento finished with 2g for Gates Chili. He scored the second goal of the game with 10:03 remaining in the second quarter. Phil Ruf scored man-up to give the Spartans the early 3-0 lead. The first Lightning goal of the game was scored with 5:38 remaining in the half. Nick Capone assisted Tyler Dalle for the first of his 3g-1a. The first half ended with the score 3-1 in favor of the Spartans. In the third quarter the teams traded goals. Caccamise scored his first goal with an assist from Joe Corona again in man-up. Two minutes later the Lightning scored again. Bryan Collister scored the first of his 3g for Greece. Gates scored the final goal of the quarter with Greg Statt scoring (assisted by Caccamise). The Spartans did not score for twelve minutes. During that time, Greece scored three goals to tie the game. Collister, Dalle and Capone each added goals for Greece. Dalle and Capone's goal were both scored during extra-man offense. With 9:18 remaining in the game, the score was tied 5-5. Ruf scored his second goal (unassisted) to give the Spartans back the lead. Nick Serio assisted the tying goal with a feed to Dalle. May scored the game winning goal with 2:18 remaining. Collister added the insurance goal with 1:38 left. The goal was also assisted by Serio. In the cage for the Lightning, Josh Hovey finished with 9 saves (60%). Capone (10) and May (9) led the team in ground balls. Capone was also 13/14 (93%) at the face-off draw; with his only loss coming on a technical foul. For the Spartans, Dylan Dix finished with 14 recorded saves (64%). LSM Casey Pritchard led Gates Chili with seven ground balls. |
