Thursday: Pittsford Over CA and Penfield Over OP

Pittsford scored seven unanswered goals spanning the second and third quarters to secure their 10-3 win over Canandaigua. Penfield won a convincing 10-3 victory from Orchard Park (Section 6). Even distribution of offensive points from six players, led by Jonathan Spaan (2g-3a) and a 74% day from goalie Liam Guiton gave the Patriots their first win. Michael Perotto's first Varsity point was an assist to his younger brother Jonathan as Aquinas defeated Haverling. Connor Flaherty set a school record for assists with ten to help HF-L beat Brockport. Livonia beat McQuaid Jesuit in GRALL play led by Josh Wester's 4g-5a.

--   Livonia scored the first four goals of the game and McQuaid Jesuit never came back within three goals in the Bulldogs 12-6 win. Livonia's Josh Wester scored the first three goals unassisted. He finished with 4g-5a in the contest. Livonia won three of the four quarters (1st, 2nd and 4th). The Knights won the third quarter 4-2 and brought the game back within three goals three times (7-4,8-5,9-6) but could not get any closer. The Bulldogs scored the final three goals of the contest. Mitchell Kinney scored during man-up with an assist from Wester; followed by Derek Bishopp scoring the final two goals (the first assisted by Wester).

Defenseman Sean Kidder finished with a team leading 14 ground balls. Bishopp finished with eight ground balls and 14/21 (67%) at the face-off draw. In the cage, Jordan Cauwels finished with four saves. For the Knights, Joe Hanna finished with 2g-1a and Jake Gleason finished with 1g-2a. Defensive midfielder Luc Bailey finished with a team leading seven ground balls. In the cage, sophomore Nick Angelo and eighth grader Dylan Sulzbach split halves. --  Orchard Park scored the first goal before Penfield scored nine of the next ten in their 10-3 win. The Patriots held the Quakers scoreless for 14 minutes between the first and second goals and then 25 minutes between the second and third goals. Attackman Jonathan Spaan finished with 2g-3a to lead the Patriots. Brian Wall (3g) and Mitch Standera (2g-1a) also made significant contributions for Penfield.

Face off man Connor Russell finished 7/11 (58%) at the face off draw and with a team leading seven ground balls. In the cage, Liam Guiton played the majority of the game and recorded eight saves. Nick Presicci finished the final two minutes and recorded a single save.

For Orchard Park, Austin Goltz led with 1g-1a. Midfielder Mitch Wilson finished with a team leading five ground balls. Defensemen Brett McMullen and Nick Bammell each added four ground balls for the Quakers. In the cage, Tyler Ferrino finished with four saves.

--  Pittsford scored seven unanswered goals spanning the second and third quarters to secure their 10-3 win over Canandaigua. The game was close for the first one and a half quarters. The Braves scored the first goal with an unassisted drive from Connor Hulme with 3:14 remaining in the first quarter. Pittsford came back and scored two of their own goals before time expired in the quarter. Brandon Barker and Albie DiPasquale both scored unassisted goals for the Panthers. DiPasquale finished with 2g-2a for Pittsford. Pittsford led 2-1 at the end of the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Canandaigua scored the first goal with an unassisted goal from Dan LaCrosse. Pittsford added the first three of their seven goal stretch in the final 3:12 of the half. Stephen Quinzi scored the first of his 5g-1a with an assist from DiPasquale to start the series. The Panthers led 5-2 going into halftime. The opening goal of the third quarter was scored by face off man Steven Ricci. Ricci finished 10/14 (71%) for Pittsford. He also led the Panthers in ground balls with six. Quinzi, DiPasquale and defenseman Cameron Pincus added four ground balls each to the count. The final Braves goal was scored with 3:03 remaining in the game when LaCrosse assisted Ben Northrup during a man-up play.
