How are leagues organized?

MCLacrosse teams within Section Five are Independents or are members of one of three leagues; theMonroe County League, the Finger Lakes League and the GRALL.

The Monroe County and the Finger Lakes Leagues have been around for many years and were organized by the local school districts to allow for scheduling and other purposes for many different athletic teams. They each have constitutions that govern their activity and determine their rules and membership. They are each administered by Athletic Councils which are generally made up of school officials (usually athletic directors) who meet on a regular basis to conduct the business of their leagues.

Independent teams include Penn Yan Academy and Batavia.

In 2004, four teams without membership in Monroe County or Finger Lakes leagues, formed the Greater Rochester Area Lacrosse League (GRALL). Their members include Aquinas, Haverling-Haverling, Livonia and McQuaid Jesuit and Avon.
