Spencerport Advances to the Class B Finals

SPECIAL REPORT: Schroeder vs SpencerportSpencerport moves on the Class B Tournament for the first time in program history after their 6-4 win over Webster Schroeder.  The Rangers scored the last four goals of the game and held the Warriors scoreless throughout the second half.  Goalie Taylor Kaye finished with five saves (1 in the second half) on the game for the Rangers.  For the Warriors, Casey Berns recorded 7 saves.

Schroeder vs SpencerportSpencerport scored the opener during a double man-up opportunity.  With two men down for 30 seconds, the Rangers took most of the time to head to the cage.  Just after release (before anyone could make it into play), sophomore Trevor Lewis scored with a feed from Jayden Rodriguez.  Four seconds later, Schroeder tied up the game for the first time.  Nate Schilling scored off a feed to the crease from Drew Pagano.  The last goal of the quarter was scored with 2:52 remaining in the quarter.  Spencerport’s Trevor Lewis scored his second off a feed from brother Dylan Lewis.   The Rangers led 2-1 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Schroeder took over control.  The Warriors added three goals and held the Rangers scoreless for 12 minutes.  Junior Nate Schilling was a part of all three goals during the quarter.  He assisted the first two with a dead ball feed to Colton Ugine followed by a loose ball pickup and feed to Brennon Robinson.  The third goal was a man-up goal that was assisted by Drew Pagano.  Schroder held a 4-2 lead going into halftime.

Schroeder vs SpencerportIn the third quarter, Spencerport scored back to back goals to tie up the game.  Both goals came within the first two minutes of play.  The first came with a drive down the left side by John Choate.  Less than a minute later a drive from the right side ended in a goal for Rodriguez.  The game was 4-4 going into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Spencerport continued their control and added two more goals.  The Rangers scored with 0722 remaining with T. Lewis scoring off a feed from Rodriguez.  The final goal of the game came with 0:34 remaining on the clock.  The Rangers were two men-up and were attempting to run out the clock.  The first penalty released, and Zach Tortora found Jayden Mandarano open in the middle of the field.  Mandarano scored to put the Rangers up by two.  The Warriors won the draw and had one more attempt on offense; however, they could not capitalize.   Spencerport moves on to face Victor in the Finals on Wednesday.
