Tuesday: R-H Wins in OT, CA Wins by One

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Once again, there were many mismatches, but there were also some really good games. In the game of the last two unbeaten teams, Canandaigua (9-0) was the last team standing but the Cougars had a strong second half at both ends of the field. Senior A/M Jett Richardsen scored the overtime, game-winning goal for the Royal Comets in this game that could not have been closer with eight ties. Greece took an early lead and held on for their one goal win.

Hilton at RushHILTON-10 at RUSH-HENRIETTA-11 - Senior A/M Jett Richardsen (4g-1a) scored the overtime, game-winning goal for the Royal Comets in this game that could not have been closer with eight ties. With Hilton up 10-8 with four minutes left in the game, Rush saw goals form Hayden Hobbs (1g) and Justin Day (1g) for the 10-10 tie to send the game into OT.  Also scoring for Rush-Henrietta (4-2) were Jett Richardsen (4g-1a), Mike Valent (3g), and Tyler Bernarduci (2g). Facing off for Rush-Henrietta was senior Mike Valent with 17+/8- = 68%.

Hilton at RushPITTSFORD-11 at FAIRPORT-6 - It was the "Blake Cognata Cross Out Cancer Game" at Fairport today, with ticket sales becoming a donation. Pittsford scored seven goals in the first half while holding the hosts to one. Fairport improved in the second half with five of their own. Pittsford extended their winning streak to five goals with the win that saw junior midfielder Josiah Joyner score his first Varsity goal. Leading the scoring for Pittsford (8-1) were Rex Kesselring (5g), Luke Fliss (1g-2a), and Ben Steingass (1g-1a).

Scoring for Fairport (4-5) were Mitchell Monte (1g-1a), Sam Pucci (1g-1a), Bobby Cameron (2g), Jack DuBose (1g), and Nicholas Fosegan (1g).Fairport goalie Luke Ryan recorded 12s/11ga = 52% (48 mins).     [ BOX SCORE

Hilton at RushSCHROEDER-8 at BRIGHTON-10 - Freshman attackman James Holbrough (6g-4a) was in on all ten goals scored by Brighton who won this close game. Schroeder scored three goals in under two minutes in the fourth quarter but fell short. Others scoring for Brighton (4-3) were Miles McGuire (2g-1a), and Aksel Stanat (2g-1a). Geneva at WhitmanGREECE STORM-6 at EAST UNITED-EASTRIDGE-5 - Greece scored three unanswered goals in the first quarter and led at the half 4-1. East fired back in the third with three goals but fell short. Greece junior defenseman Brady Nugent scored his first Varsity goal in the game and junior goalie Jonathan Bucciarelli reached his 400th save with his 14 saves (now 412svs). Other players scoring for the Greece Storm (3-4) were Andrew Hill (3g), Matthew Ranalletta (1g-1a), and Aiden Early (1g). Bucciarelli recorded 14s/4ga = 78% (46 mins).

CANANDAIGUA-7 at HFL-6 - In the game of the last two unbeaten teams, Canandaigua (9-0) was the last team standing but the Cougars had a strong second half at both ends of the field. Canandaigua scored four goals in the first and three in the second and led 7-2 at the half. Then, scoring two goals in the third and two more in the fourth, the Cougars held the Braves scoreless, leading to an exciting finish. Scoring for Canandaigua were Drew Williamee (2g-1a), Nate Sheridan (1g-1a), Sean Olvany (1g-1a), Braden Gioseffi (2g), and Alex Rheude (1g). In the goal for Canandaigua Jack Faiola had 9s/6ga = 60% (48 mins). Canandaigua travels to Baldwinsville on Saturday.

MCQUAID JESUIT-6 at IRONDEQUOIT-4 - The first half belonged to McQuaid as they scored four unanswered goals, but the Eagles outscored the Knights 3-1 in the third and they both scored one in the last quarter. Andre Bigham scored for Irondequoit with an assist from Aidan Greco to take the score to 5-4 Knights with seven minutes left in the game. Vincenzo Giangreco (1g-1a), who reached his 50th career goal, gave McQuaid a two-goal edge with three minutes left.

MIDLAKES-RED JACKET-3 at NEWARK-14 - Seven different players scored goals for Newark including senior attackman Marwan Osmen and sophomore defenseman Lucas Herd who both scored their first Varsity goal for the Reds. Leading the scoring for Newark (4-3) were Preston Steve (4g-3a), Thomas Kirnie (3g-2a), and Kaiden Schutt (2g-2a). Facing off for Newark was freshman Sam Underhill with 9+/1- = 90%. In the goal for Newark was Kirnie with 3s/0ga = 100% (24 mins), and sophomore Carter Bumpus with 6s/3ga = 67% (24 mins).  There was no report from Midlakes-Red Jacket (0-5) at post-time.    [ BOX SCORE

Victor at Penfield VICTOR-13 at PENFIELD-9 - A run of seven goals was the difference in this game that was closer than the score indicated. The Blue Devils had a 6-1 second quarter, but in the second half the scoring was even. With the win, Victor extended their winning streak to six games. Leading the scoring for Victor (7-1) were Sam Gotham (2g-2a), Pax Marshall (3g), Thomas Gravino (3g), and Kyle Saeger (2g). Sam Ricci faced off and recorded 21+/4- = 84%. Victor is at Spencerport on Thursday.
