Saturday: Garden City vs Canandaigua 3:00 PM

Garden City vs CanandaiguaThe Class B game will feature Garden City vs Canandaigua at 3:00.

CA loos ballThe Trojans have a record of 18-2 as they enter this game and they have won their last eleven games. They won their county championship against Calhoun (12-5, the Long Island championship against Comsewogue (9-6) and the NYS semifinal game against Rye (6-4).

There only losses this season were to Cold Spring Harbor (9-7) and La Salle Academy (7-3). Both games were in April.

There are over a half dozen players with at least twenty points and scoring comes from many directions. Jack Archer has 31g-29a, Luke Schmitt has 32g-18a, Jay Ottomenelli has 36g-10a and Mike Fargione had 29g-25a.

Schmitt scored 2g-1a in the 6-4 Rye victory. Henry Gibbons (16g-5a) had 3g.

Canandaigua enters the game at 16-5 and have won their last five. The Braves have five players with over twenty points. Senior midfielder Elliot Morgan has 30g-17a, Jaxon Grant has 31g-11a, and Drew Williamee has 17g-15a.Sophomore Sean Olvany has 19g-8a and Nate Sheridan has 16g-9a. Luke McCrobie is a faceoff midfielder, who although missing some games due to injury is back and has 137 wins (63%). In the sectional championship game, he went 12 of 14 (86%). Against West Genesee we went 60%.

CAIn the cage, junior Jack Faiola is a two-year starter headed to Hobart and has 142s (62%). He recorded 6s (67%) in the sectional championship game and 9s (64%) against Hamburg. In the semifinal he made numerous spectacular saves and finished with 11s (92%). Once again, the strong defensive unit that includes Eric Platten and Brady Comella continue to contain  top scorers.

On the offensive end Jaxon Grant continues to have a lot of ball time and leads scoring with 31 and Elliott Morgan continues to be a threat who is very willing to give up the ball.

Garden City has won seven NYS championships, the last time in 2018. The players could nearly jog to the Hofstra field about four miles away.

Just like the last game, the Braves will need McCrobie to get them ball time, and their offensive unit will need to put goals on the cage. The strong defense in front of Faiola will need to control multiple shooters and once again enthusiasm and "Hustle" will be the keys to this game.
