Livonia Celebrates Twenty Years

At halftime of the Livonia-Avon game today, the Lakers celebrated twenty years since the program started. Former players were announced at a halftime ceremony.

20 Years

"Livonia lacrosse began around 1994 with the founding of the Livingston Lacrosse Club by Coach John Sciera.  What started out as a group of 15-20 kids from the Livonia/Avon/Geneseo area, turned into a thriving youth program.

In 1998 Coach Sciera took the idea to the Board of Education to attempt to get the lacrosse program piloted as a school funded sport.  The Board approved the plan unanimously and Livonia started as a JV program in the Spring of 2000.  After two years of JV lacrosse, Livonia played their first Varsity Lacrosse game in March 2002 earning a win over Greece Odyssey. Since the Livonia and more recently the Livonia/Avon program has had many great players, coaches and supporters. We would like to thank every player, parent, coach and supporter for making the program what it is today."
