Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: After a number of days full of mismatches, most of the six games played today were close ones. Penn Yan overcame a 7-3 deficit and scored six goals to force a tie with Canandaigua, who won in the first overtime period. Geneva played a close game with Greece, winning 10-6 after multiple late goals by Sam Miller. West Genesee was an 11-8 winner against Hilton and Pittsford lost an 8-7 game with F-M. Finally, Wayne was a 10-8 winner over Aquinas and, by the way, Victor posted a 17-2 win over Kettle Moraine (Wisconsin).

After a 2-2 tie in the first quarter, Canandaigua surged ahead of Penn Yan scoring four unanswered goals, before the Mustangs scored in the last 0:22 of the half, which ended with the Braves up 6-3. Both teams scored two goals in the third quarter, which ended with CA up 8-5. Penn Yan took off in the last quarter with goals by Clay Kinyoun (3g-1a) and Chase Blumbergs taking the Mustangs to 8-7, but Canandaigua responded with a goal by Mark Bellis. He ended the game with 4g and gave the Braves a two-goal advantage again. With 1:59 left in the game Conner Fingar (3g-1a) scored with an assist from Devon Gerhardt (1g-3a) in man-up and with 0:19 left in the game Fingar scored again with a hard sidearm to tie the game at 9-9. Both teams had shots in overtime, but with 1:08 left, Bellis scored the game winner for Canandaigua (8-1) who will play Pittsford on Tuesday. Penn Yan (6-2) will play Haverling on Thursday.

The Geneva-Greece game was tight and hard fought right up until the end. After the Storm scored the first goal Geneva came back to take a 4-2 halftime lead. The third quarter was controlled by Greece who responded and tied the game at 5-5. Geneva took over in the last quarter with faceoff wins from Nate and Nick Askin. Sam Miller (3g-2a) stepped up and scored three goals in the final quarter to help give the Panthers (6-2) the win. Geneva will play a big game with Pal-Mac on Thursday. Greece will play Brockport on Tuesday.

Hilton (5-2) played a close game with visiting West Genesee (5-2), playing to a 5-6 half, before The Wildcats scored five goals in the second half to take home the 11-8 win. Max Rosa led the Wildcat offense with 5g and Luke Staudt made 12 saves (60%). Justin Mosher, Zach Boyatzies and Michael Galante each scored two goals for the Cadets.

Wayne scored the first three goals and led throughout in their 10-8 game with Aquinas, but the Little Irish stayed with the Eagles right to the end. Wayne had a 3-1 lead after one quarter and led at the half 7-3, but Aquinas outscored the Eagles 5-3 in the second half, getting as close as 8-9 with six minutes left in the game. Five players made the offensive book for Wayne with Billy Thomson leading with 3g-2a. Jake Reed had three goals for Aquinas who will play Nichols on Wednesday. Wayne (5-1) will play Waterloo on Tuesday.

A single goal in the first quarter was the difference as Fayetteville-Manlius took an 8-7 win from visiting Pittsford. Zach Nestor led F-M with 4g and Ben Hammond recorded 8s/3ga (73%) and Jack Van Valkenburgh recorded 7s/4ga (64%) in the goal. As the game was late the Pittsford Report was delayed.
