Junior midfielder Conner Fingar finished tonight’s game with 2g-2a (9g-6a for the whole Tournament) and was named the Class B All Tournament MVP. The Mustangs scored the first three goals of the game. Fingar scored the opener with a sweep along the top with 8:20 remaining on the clock. Fifteen seconds later, Dylan Stape scored on a face-off fast-break off a feed from Fingar. The third goal was also a fast-break goal with Fingar scoring off a straight drive down the middle. The Little Irish got on the board with Jonathan Parrinello scoring on a midrange shot. The Mustangs added two more before the quarter expired. Ayden Mowry (also named to All Tournament) scored off a feed from Fingar. Mowry was on the crease and turned and buried the ball into the back of the net. The first goal of the game that was neither scored or assisted by Fingar was scored with a single player drive as time expired in the half by Austin Blumbergs. Penn Yan led 5-1 after 12 minutes.
They increased their lead to 6-1 (their largest of the game) with the opening goal of the second quarter. Colton Smith scored with a drive from behind the cage. Smith joined Fingar and Mowry on the All Tournament Team for Penn Yan’s offense. Aquinas finished out the quarter with two goals of their own. Casey Hochheimer scored the first off a feed from behind the cage by Eli Chalmers. Both Chalmers and Hochhheimer made the All Tournament Team for Aquinas. Chalmers assisted the second goal as well with a feed to Jake Reed. Penn Yan led 6-3 at halftime.
