Wayne outscored Pal-Mac in each of the four quarters and controlled the pace of the game throughout. The Eagles opened up the scoring with a goal 0:57 into the matchup. John Reagan scored the game opener with a drive along the left wing. He finished with 3g-2a and was the second highest scorer for the Eagles. Pal-Mac responded with two goals of their own. Both goals were scored by Bennett Medyn. The first came off of a cross-crease pass from Zach Baker. The second was a quick multi-pass situation that ended with Grady Arnold feeding him from GLE on the left. Wayne finished out the first quarter with three more goals.
In the second quarter, Wayne kept up their pressure. Pal-Mac scored the first goal with a loose ball on the crease that Alex Wahl converted into a goal. Wayne responded with another drive to GLE followed by a dump to the flat. Once again Cahill initiated the drive from behind and passed off to Thomson on the flat. The Red Raiders scored their last goal of the half during extra-man offense with an outside shot from Evan Hurlbutt (assisted by Baker). Similar to the first quarter, Wayne finished off the second quarter with three unanswered goals.
