Klan finished the game at 50%, but that does little to demonstrate the effect he had on the Patriots. He made a number of strong saves, and many of his goals against were scored during man-up offense for Fairport or in fast-break situations. The biggest save of the game came in the final minute, when he stopped a shot from Reese Burek to hold the game at a 7-7 tie. Spaan was equally as demonstrative on the offensive side. He finished with 4g-2a, including the game winning goal in overtime. There were only two goals that Spaan did not score or assist for the Patriots.

The third quarter belonged to Fairport. The Red Raiders scored three goals and held the Patriots to only one. They came from a one goal deficit to a one goal lead. Play began in the third quarter with a two minute non-releasable penalty against Penfield. The Red Raiders capitalized with Cameron Gebhardt scoring to tie the game. His goal came after the ball was stripped from Klan during a clear that resulted in Gebhardt having a shot at the open cage. On the ensuring face-off the Patriots brought the ball down to score man-down. James Stoler took a hard shot at the cage that was saved by Tyler Wetzel. The save came off Wetzel`s chest and was scooped up by Spaan to score man-down. Fairport re-tied the game with an unassisted sweep across the top by Jake Bucci. With 2:11 remaining in the fourth quarter, Fairport scored their final goal of the contest and took the first lead of the day. Kyle McAvoy scored off a feed from Michael Modesti with a hard corner shot from the left flat.
Penfield held the Red Raider scoreless for the final 14 minutes and for 8 shots (3 on cage). They added two goals of their own. The first came with 6:08 left in regulation to tie the game at 7-7. Hunter Savitcheff scored his lone goal of the contest with a drive around the back of the cage and a high shot into the upper corner. The Patriots could not get a shot off in the final six minutes. The Red Raiders kept up the pressure and with just under a minute left to play, Burek took a hard shot at the cage. Klan came up with his biggest save of the night to keep the Patriots in the game and the score tied. With time coming to a close, a flag was through against the Red Raiders for too many men on the field. The Patriots had the ball stripped with 0:11 left on the clock. They chose to hold the ball and take possession going into overtime. The wager paid off with Jordan and Spaan connecting on the same man-up play that started the scoring this game.
