HFL took their first lead of the game at 4:27 remaining with a slow break.  Grady Goodberlet fed the ball into the center crease were long-stick Owen Smith finished into the back of the net.  Wayne tied the game with 2:32 remaining.  PJ Ostrowski fed the ball into Izak Krajeski.  The game was tied 2-2 after 12 minutes.

Wayne vs HFLIn the third quarter, HFL fought back and took over their own two goal lead.  HFL scored three straight goals to take their second lead of the game.  Perryman scored two goals, the first during a broken clear off a feed from Michel.  Patrick Donahoe scored the third goal with a drive from the top.  HFL led 6-5 with 4:03 left in the third quarter.  Wayne scored their lone goal of the quarter on the next draw.  Profetta assisted Michel with a hard press down the field off the draw.  The goal was only 8 seconds after Perryman’s goal.  HFL finished out the quarter with back to back goals to go up by two.  Both goals were scored by Goodberlet and both were scored on broken clears.  The first was assisted by Perryman and the second was assisted by Braydn Trybuskiewicz.  Goodberlet, an eighth grader, was the youngest member of the All-Tournament Team.

The fourth quarter was all Wayne.  The Screaming Eagles added two goals while holding the Cougars scoreless.  The HFL scoring drought went from the third quarter into the second overtime period (over 17 minutes total).  Ostrowski scored the first goal (with 11:06 remaining) off a feed from behind the cage from Michel.  With 7:06 remaining, Wayne tied the game at 8-8.  Profetta scored unassisted with a drive across the top.
