The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments. |
# 2922 Geneva Wins 2nd Straight Title Geneva won their second back to back Class C Championship tonight against Wayne 10-1. The Panthers defeated the Eagles 13-2 last year. The Panthers were slowly plodding throughout the contest and added a few goals in each quarter. Midfielder Sam Miller was named the Class C All Tournament MVP after a 3g-3a day (60% of all goals). Additionally, goalie Brandon Wayne finished with an exceptional day, recording 13 saves. Of those, 10 came in the first half while holding the Eagles scoreless during that period. Both senior were instrumental in the success of the Panthers this season. |
# 2897 Greece Holds Off Late HFL Push with OT Win Greece Storm fought off the late push by HFL to defeat the Cougars 10-9 in the first overtime period. Greece led by four with ten minutes left in regulation. HFL scored four goals to force overtime. However, Matthew McHale scored for the Storm with 0:54 left in the first overtime period. The Storm controlled the entire game, and although HFL tied the game twice (1-1 and 9-9), Greece never trailed. They also held a four goal lead at three different points before HFL’s late stretch forced overtime. |

Sophomore attackman, Joe Russo led the Thomas book with 4g and junior offensiveman John Reagan led the Wayne book with 3g. Thomas plays Gates Chili on Tuesday and Wayne plays Mynderse. |
# 1420 Fairport vs Penfield and Geneva vs Wayne in Finals The Championship round in Classes A and C are now set with #2 Penfield playing #1 Fairport in Class A. In Class C, #2 Wayne will play #1 Geneva. The games will be played at St. John Fisher College on Tuesday, May 29th with the Class C game at 5:00 and the Class A game at 7:30. |
# 1419 Wayne Advances to the Finals for First Time in Program History Sophomore John Reagan scored the game winning goal in the first overtime period to give second seeded Wayne the 11-10 win over third seeded HFL. The Cougars took over the game early scoring five of the first six goals to take a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter. Garrett Ruff scored two early goals for the Cougars to set the pace. He scored with a single dodge with 7:37 remaining and off a behind the back goal (assisted by Josh Barski) with 3:13 remaining. Junior Andrew Mapstone scored two of his own in the run. |
